Salon Ten in Much Wenlock offers hair, beauty and a caring wig service

In a Grade II listed malt house in Much Wenlock, Salon Ten has built a reputation that reaches well beyond hair and beauty. Across three floors dedicated to hair, beauty and wigs, the salon looks after clients of all ages, including many people dealing with hair loss.

Salon Ten was established in 2007 by Nicky Marcar, who is also a national trainer for Great Lengths hair extensions. She has built a team with a real family feel, and the salon caters for men, women and children, with a menu running from a child's trim and men's grooming to a complete new look.

The wig service is a big part of what makes the salon special. In a bright, easy-access private wig room, specially trained staff offer advice on human hair and synthetic wigs, with more than 200 always in stock. Wigs can be worn ready to wear or cut and styled for each client, and there is a range of headscarves and aftercare products.

The salon works with the NHS and with private clients. Nicky has trained with the UK Wig School and with Macmillan nurses so that the service suits each person, whether they are facing medically related hair loss or simply fancy a change. She invites clients to come in and sit down over a coffee to talk through all the options available.

Sustainability runs through the business. The salon uses 50 per cent air and 50 per cent water for backwashes, low energy LED lighting and electricity from 100 per cent renewable sources, and most of its cardboard, glass and metal waste is reused or recycled. It also recycles hair extensions to the Little Princess Trust.

Salon Ten stocks Davines products, which are cruelty-free and vegan, with ammonia-free hair colour and refillable bottles in the salon that give customers a discount.

Beyond hair, the beauty floor offers a full range of head-to-toe treatments designed to help clients relax, and gift vouchers can be used for any treatment or product.
