A small cabin park on the banks of the River Perry, a short drive north west of Shrewsbury, has been recognised twice over at the West Midlands Tourism Awards. Riverside Cabins took Silver in the Camping, Glamping and Holiday Park of the Year category and Bronze in the Regenerative Tourism Award.

The results, announced in March, were part of a strong showing for Telford and Shropshire, which collected several Gold, Silver and Bronze awards across accommodation, attractions and events. Mandy Thorn MBE DL, chair of the Telford and Shropshire Local Visitor Economy Partnership, called the county's success a powerful endorsement of the quality and commitment found across the visitor economy.

Riverside Cabins was established in 2020 at Wykey, near Ruyton-XI-Towns. The site covers 10 acres of countryside and offers log cabins alongside touring pitches as a Caravan and Motorhome Club Certificated Location.

Guests can take kayaks and paddle boards out on the river, follow walking paths through the grounds or cool off in a natural plunge pool on hot days. There is a barbecue and cooking area called The Smokehouse, a firepit gathering spot known as The Quarry, and indoor and outdoor yoga retreats. Free Wi-Fi is included and the accommodation is pet friendly, so the whole family can come along.

The business has also been making its mark on the wider Shropshire business scene. At the Shropshire Chamber Business Awards in 2025, where 14 winners were crowned in front of more than 700 people at Telford's International Centre, Riverside Cabins took home the Retail, Leisure and Hospitality award.

For visitors, the location works both ways. The site feels tucked away in the countryside, yet Shrewsbury, with its historic streets and independent shops, is close by, as are attractions such as the National Trust's Attingham Park.

With the regenerative tourism recognition in particular, Riverside Cabins shows how a small rural business can welcome visitors while caring for the landscape that brings them there.

Riverside Cabins is at Weirbridge Cottage, Wykey, Ruyton-XI-Towns, SY4 1HY. Details of the cabins, pitches and retreats are listed on its Caravan and Motorhome Club page.
