A Bridgnorth restaurant is celebrating a standout year after Dilraz was named Best Restaurant of the Year 2026 at the national Curry Life Awards, one of the most prestigious events in the British curry industry.

The ceremony took place on Sunday 4 October at the InterContinental London Park Lane and was hosted by BBC presenters Jon Kay and Luxmy Gopal. More than 500 guests attended, including British Asian entrepreneurs and professionals from across hospitality, and 41 awards were presented to winners from across the country.

The Curry Life Awards are organised by Curry Life magazine. Thousands of customers voted for their favourite restaurants, takeaways and chefs before judges went through a selection process to choose the winners, which this year ranged from Brighton to Bolton and Taunton to Teesside.

For the team in Bridgnorth, the win was a proud moment. "Winning Best Restaurant of the Year is an incredibly proud moment for all of us at Dilraz," a spokesperson said. "We have put everything into the restaurant, but this award belongs just as much to our team and to the people of Bridgnorth who have supported us."

"The messages and congratulations we have received since the awards have been overwhelming," they added. "To bring a national award home to Bridgnorth is something we will never forget."

Dilraz describes itself as a family-run restaurant where tradition meets innovation, combining traditional recipes with contemporary twists. The restaurant says it is devoted to using the freshest local ingredients, and that sustainability and community are at its core, with close links to local suppliers.

The team said the support of customers across Bridgnorth and the wider Shropshire community played a vital role in the recognition, capping a remarkable year for the business.

Dilraz was one of two Shropshire restaurants to take a Best Restaurant title on the night, and the awards shine a light on a sector made up overwhelmingly of small and medium-sized businesses. Curry Life notes that the UK has more than 10,000 curry restaurants and takeaways, many of them family-run, making an important contribution to local economies, jobs and communities across the country.

Diners can book or order for collection and delivery through the Dilraz website, which also has the latest menu.
